Synopsis: A high-ranking police inspector kills his mistress and deliberately plants clues indicating his responsibility for the crime in a sardonic test to prove that he is above suspicion.
Winner of the Best Foreign Language Film Academy Award in 1971, Grand Prize of the Jury and FIPRESCI Prize at Cannes Film Festival in 1970, Best Film and Best Actor at David di Donatello Awards in 1970, and many more prestigious prizes.
