Human Rights Day

In the frame of the International Human Rights Day, on the 17th of December 2024, was organized at the Authority on Information for the Documents of the Former State Secret Service, in cooperation with the Delegation of the European Union to Albania, the International Human Rights Film Festival Albania-IHRFFA, the Institute of Studying the Crimes and Consequences of Communism, Foundation Kujto.al and the International Commission on Finding the Missing and Disappeared persons.

Screening of the three short documentaries followed by a discussion with the participants:

“The revolt that shook the dictatorship” – A documentary by the Institute of Studies for Crimes and Consequences of Communism, written by Ergys Mërtiri and directed by Indrit Kasmi.
This revolt is presented not only through the human testimonies of the protagonists but also through the evidenced archival documents of the time. The documentary reflects on the emotional aspect of the courageous prisoners, imprisoned in one of the most terrible prisons of the time. This is a reflection on the notions of    freedom and captivity into human being , two antagonist notions in a prison.

The virtual museum of Maliq camps”-  This documentary derives from the cooperation between Institute of Studies for Crimes and Consequences of Communism and foundation “Konrad Adenauer”, written by Luljeta Lleshanaku and directed by Elton Baxhaku.
The Institute on Study of Crimes and Consequences of Communism uses the digital technique, filmings on quality 4K and graphic 3D in order to encourage a new dimension of thinking and imagination for the past, on the conditions of few number of documents and far distant time period from the present.
This is a second documentary after the “Virtual museum of Tepelena camp” presented in 2019.
This documentary is based on the writing evidences and testimonies in the form of video-registering by some of those who suffered on working camps in Maliq: At Zef Pllumi, Beqir Ajazi, Ejëll Çoba, Sami Repishti, Avdyl Banushi, Makensen Bungo, Skënder Stefanllari, Lavdosh Beqo, Cezar Malile, Gani Kupi, Faik Selenica, and in the book title “ Traces from Maliq Camp” written by Ylber Merdani.Project consultant: Kastriot Dervishi

Unmarked Graves” – A documentary by the Foundation “Kujto” supported from the Program of small grants of ICMP, financially supported by European Union and Swiss Embassy.
The communist regime, under 45 years of political oppressive power transformed Albania into a massive graviard. According to the official statistics, there have many people, thousand opposers of the regime who have been killed, after a legal penal process or without any legal penal process.
Their familiars hope to find their bones in order to build a grave. The foundation “Kujto.al” provides on this documentary a map of these grave-places.
