🇺🇸
One year since the beginning of Russia’s unprovoked and unjustified full-scale invasion on Ukraine, the Embassy of Ukraine in Albania and the Academy of Film & Multimedia Marubi invite you to mark this day with the screening of the Ukrainian film A HOUSE MADE OF SPLINTERS (2022), directed by the Danish director Simon Lereng Wilmont, created by support of the State Agency of Ukraine on Cinema Issues,
on Tuesday 28 February, at 7 p.m. at the Academy Marubi
A HOUSE MADE OF SPLINTERS is an Oscar nominee. The documentary by Simon Lereng Wilmont will compete in the Best Documentary Feature Film nomination on the 12th of March 2023.
A HOUSE MADE OF SPLINTERS is already the second film of the Danish director, which was shot in Ukraine. After the success of the film THE DISTANT BARKING OF DOGS, the director returned to the topic of long-term consequences of war, first of all – for children, who are the most vulnerable part of society. The film “A House Made of Splinters” tells about the challenges and tragedies that three children go through in a shelter in a front-line town in Ukraine. The heroes of the film are also educators, social service workers who try to create comfortable and safe conditions for children in the terrible conditions of the war.
